Here & Ready to LAUGH WITH YOU
I developed a love for writing in the 3rd grade when I entered a ‘scary stories’ contest in my local newspaper and placed runner up. I got invited to read my story aloud at Barnes N Nobles and when I was done, people in the audience actually stood up and clapped for me. That’s right — I got a standing ovation at age 8. That was when I truly felt like I was good at something. I had found my niche; it wasn’t history, or science, it definitely wasn’t math, but it was writing.
My style of writing has changed a lot since elementary school, but my end goal is still the same. I want someone to read something I wrote, whether it’s a blog post, interview or future novel, and love it so much, relate to it so much, feel so incredibly seen by it, that they wish they would wipe their memory and read it again for the first time. That is how you know you’ve written something really good.
In a world where people are posting their perfectly, curated life on social media, my goal is the exact opposite. I don’t want to write to come off as perfect; I’m far from it. I want to write to be relatable, in the hopes that someone else won’t feel so alone.
So 19 years later — I’d like to think that I’ve found my purpose; in writing and being authentic. Welcome to my shit show ;) free of charge!
GET TO KNOW KAT
When I’m not writing, you can find me sipping a really delicious glass of wine (preferably rosé with jalapenos — i’m easily influenced) or hanging out with my friends. And by friends I mean my parents. I’m kidding, I have a couple of friends.
I love my hot-girl walks, reading, watching shitty reality tv shows, hiking and spending 8 hours at the beach until I’m crispy like a piece of bacon. I aspire to be a cool, dog mom; just give it time!
My dream is that one day you’ll walk into a book store, pick up a book of mine and fall in love with it like I have with so many.
This is just the beginning for me. Thanks for being here.
